In a nutshell – ‘Elegant dining in flip flops’ is their motto. Romantic, barefoot dining on the beach. Prices range from $20 – $40 (£13 – £26)
I have to say, we try and steer clear of the American chain type restaurants when we’re in Aruba. I’d heard about Barefoot before our last visit and I love romantic dining so I just had to check it out!
Barefoot is a new restaurant and is actually the creation of the former maitre’d and head chef from Marandi (which used to be in it’s place). It has only been open for a few months and seems to have become quite popular already. It’s located very close to the airport so there are obviously planes taking off and landing from time to time however this didn’t spoil our experience. The location leaves a little to be desired (at the back of a derelict building site), however the interior of the restaurant is beautiful as is the food.
You can either dine on the beach with your toes in the sand, on the deck or inside the restaurant, great views and ambience on offer either way. We had a table on the beach where we devoured 2 courses and cocktails! Pre dinner cocktails we sampled were the Royal Mojito (made with champagne rather than soda water!) Ruby Relaxer – definitely a girly drink, both absolutely delicious, priced at $8.00 each.
The goats cheese salad is to die for by the way and you should definitely try the forrest berry soup, it’s actually a desert! This was recommended to us and was scrummy! We both enjoyed everything we ordered.
This is one of those places you want to keep secret, a bit special to share but hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we did.
